Dirty Reds Get One-Run Win at Ft. Worth
|
Ft. Worth right fielder Count Dante had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-7, to San Mateo at The Cattle Pen. Dante went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. CB Huntington earned the win for San Mateo. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. The Cattlemen fall to 8-10 and continue their wobbly start to the 2040 season.
The outcome might have been different for San Mateo, had it not been for Jesús Torres, the 31-year old second baseman . Torres stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put San Mateo up, 8-2. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Torres.
