Gold Sox Topple Blaze with Late Rally
Chicago starter Carlos Poujol pitched effectively against the South Beach Blaze at The Ballpark on the Beach. The left-hander led his team to a 9-7 win. Chicago reliever Huai-yi Lee picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-3. Connor Wilson was collared with the loss. Chicago is now 40-44, while South Beach is 57-27.

The result might have been different for Chicago, had it not been for Steve Washington. The designated hitter produced a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put the Gold Sox ahead, 9-7. For the game, Washington had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Poujol.
