Gold Sox Hang 5-3 Loss on Seahawks
|
Chicago Gold Sox starter Armando Sosa was in fine form against the Myrtle Beach Seahawks at Little Gold Sox Park, leading his team to a 5-3 win. In 7 innings, Sosa surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. The save went to Daryl Dwyer, his 19th this season.
Coy MacKey had a big 2-run single for the Gold Sox in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Steve Compton and stroked the single to center. It was his 50th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gold Sox ahead, 4-1.
In comments to the Chicago Herald, MacKey admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The 5th-place Gold Sox improved to 36-35.
