Seahawks Edge Past Crawdads, 6-5
|
The Cut Off Crawdads got a superb performance from second baseman Júlio Sahagún. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Myrtle Beach. The Seahawks won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Sahagún was named the player of the game. He was 3-5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Mark Brunswick got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. Today's win puts Myrtle Beach at 42-27, while Cut Off falls to 44-25.
The result might have been different for Myrtle Beach, had it not been for Anton Zdravomyslov, the 21-year old right fielder . Zdravomyslov stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Myrtle Beach up, 6-5. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
In postgame comments, Zdravomyslov said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
