Gold Sox Suffer 6-3 Loss to Vandals

With catcher Kunimatsu Nishimura leading the charge, the Eugene Vandals defeated the Chicago Gold Sox, 6-3, at Little Gold Sox Park. Nishimura was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Jo-hsi Ru picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Mike Lee took the loss. Tex Owens, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Eugene, had it not been for George Runnalls, the 20-year old center fielder . Runnalls contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Eugene up, 4-1.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Nishimura said.
Even with the win, the Vandals have a dismal 18-37 record.
