The Chicago Tula eked out a 3-2 win versus the Eugene Vandals at Ramblers Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher José Escalante, who captured player of the game honors. Nick Ramey finished to wrap up his 9th save. Their 17-13 record puts the Tula 4th in the Premier A.

Southbridge, Massachusetts-born Ramón Rodríguez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd and the Tula trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run double to right to put Chicago on top.

Rodríguez expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
