Jenkins Delivers Walk-Off Win for Gold Sox
|
The Chicago Gold Sox faced a tough opponent in Rocky Mountain pitcher Joop Els, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Little Gold Sox Park by a final score of 2-1. Els went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Chicago reliever Daryl Dwyer picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Erwin Shelley was collared with the loss. The Vibes, now 10-11, have lost 4 straight.
Rickey Jenkins was the walk-off hero for Chicago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Gold Sox pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Jenkins said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
