The Laredo Hawks got a superb performance from pitcher Cooper Carroll, but the Kent Comets still won the game, 4-2. Carroll was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Jack Young, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Lorenzo Encarnación finished to wrap up his 26th save.
Kent took a 3-2 lead on Zhao-ji Pan's 10th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Pan hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Laredo pitcher Mark Taylor visibly frustrated.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Pan said.
The Comets improved to 53-40.
