1787 BC Suffer 4-1 Loss to Smokies
|
The Delaware 1787 BC got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Baker. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Tennessee. The Smokies won the game, 4-1. In spite of the loss, Baker was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Tennessee is now 34-57, Delaware 57-34.
Tennessee relied on the hitting of Habib Othman to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Smokies on top, 4-1. For the game, Othman had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Othman told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
