Airmen Beat Smokies in 10
|
Alameda beat Tennessee at Smokies Stadium, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to second baseman Jorge Esparza, who earned player of the game honors. Alameda reliever Al Hensley picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ron Holland was saddled with the loss. The Airmen go to 44-43, putting them 6th in the Silver A.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Esparza delivered big-time for Alameda, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Ron Holland. The game-changing hit put the Airmen on top, 4-3.
"We played hard and won," said Esparza. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
