Walleye Edge Hawks, 2-1
|
The Walla Walla Walleye went home winners at Walleye Tank, thanks in large part to starter José García. García silenced the Laredo Hawks, enabling Walla Walla to grab the 2-1 win. García got the win, improving to 4-5. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. García allowed 1 earned run. Picking up the save was Ed Callahan, his 3rd.
Roy Bagnall dealt the Hawks a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Walla Walla leading 1-0, Bagnall, who is tied for 4th in the SA in extra base hits with 34, hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring double.
"We had a good game plan," García said, "and we were able to execute it."
Walla Walla is now 41-41, while Laredo is 51-31.
