Airmen Come Back Late to Clip Walleye
The Alameda Airmen eked out a 6-5 win versus the Walla Walla Walleye at Alameda Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Dave Hamilton, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was Vas Atepko in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Jorge Romas took the loss. Getting the save was Steven Evans, his 1st.

Alfredo Pliego found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Walla Walla hurler Jorge Romas, the 20-year-old designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly. His 30th RBI of the season put the Airmen on top, 6-5.

"I just made my pitches," said Hamilton, "and the ball kept missing the bat."

The Airmen now have a mark of 39-38.
