Tennessee Smokies starter Francisco Borges was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Niagara Falls Expos, 4-0. In 8 innings, Borges surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. The Expos, at 19-56, have lost 9 in a row.
Tennessee used the timely hitting of Chris Carson to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Smokies on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
