Airmen Come Up Short at Kent
The Comets had to overcome a fine effort from Alameda pitcher Toshinobu Nakamura to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Fuller Park. Nakamura went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Michael Ramsey picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-4. He struck out 5 in 5 innings. Lorenzo Encarnación recorded the save for Kent, his 17th of the season.

Sam Hamilton had a big run-scoring single for the Comets in the bottom of the second inning. With Kent leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a curveball from Toshinobu Nakamura and stroked the single to center. It was his 50th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Comets ahead, 2-0.

"It was our day today," Hamilton told the Kent Daily. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."

Kent is now riding a 3-game win streak.
