Storm Walk Off with Win
|
Fans who congregated at Storm Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
Syracuse beat Kent on the strength of starter Jeff Davis's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. Syracuse reliever Pete Bird picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Lorenzo Encarnación was collared with the loss.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the tenth. With Syracuse trailing 2-1, Kevin Davis hit a fastball from Lorenzo Encarnación to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Storm had a walk-off win.
Davis offered a curt "no comment" when asked to discuss the win after the game.
The 5th-place Storm lifted their record to 34-31.
