Torch Fall to Airmen, 6-4

Alameda and Mancelona duked it out at Torch Field and the Airmen came out victorious.
The Alameda Airmen topped the Mancelona Torch, 6-4, with center fielder Xue-qin Chen playing a big role. Chen went 1-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Airmen in the win. Toshinobu Nakamura got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 4. Broderick Langmead was credited with the save for Alameda, his 10th of the season.
Alameda used the timely hitting of Héctor Heredice to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Airmen on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Heredice, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Alameda goes to 32-29, Mancelona to 35-26.
