Airmen Roll Over Storm, 10-2

The Alameda Airmen grabbed a 10-2 win over the Syracuse Storm at Alameda Field. Alameda center fielder Xue-qin Chen was 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Steven Evans picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-4. He struck out 9 in 6 innings. Alameda is now 30-28. Syracuse is 31-27.
Chen contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Alameda in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Chen took a fastball from Jim Porter and stroked the home run to right. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Airmen to leap in front, 2-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Alameda manager Juan Salinas.
