Storm Get Close Win Over Reapers
|
The Syracuse Storm went home winners at The Coffin, thanks in large part to starter Jim Porter. Porter silenced the Grim Reapers, enabling Syracuse to grab the 2-1 win. Porter got the win, improving to 6-3. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Porter allowed no earned runs. King Joseph picked up the save, his 13th.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Mauro DelPiero to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Storm on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Jim is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Syracuse manager Theodore Johnston.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Syracuse.
