In a low-scoring clash between San Mateo and Thunder Bay, pitcher Michael Machen was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for San Mateo in the 3-2 win. Picking up the save was Matt Digby, his 1st. San Mateo, now 4-1, has played well in the early going.

Tom Burton went 1 for 3 for San Mateo. In the top of the fifth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Burton delivered for the Dirty Reds. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put San Mateo on top, 3-2.
