The Syracuse Storm downed the Niagara Falls Expos, 6-4, at Waterfall Park. The Storm were led by Bobby Verstraten, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. King Joseph closed the game out for Syracuse, earning his 8th save. Syracuse is now 19-19, Niagara Falls 8-30.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Kevin Davis to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Storm on top, 6-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Despite the victory, Davis was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
