The Smokies had to overcome a fine effort from Syracuse pitcher Shawn Hanna to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Storm Park. Hanna went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Ron Holland was called on to finish, recording his 6th save. Tennessee is now 10-23.

Tennessee used the clutch hitting of Rodney McClellan to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Smokies ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

McClellan told the Tennessee Today: "I was born for the big stage."
