Victory Over 1787 BC Takes Laredo to 16-9
|
Jonas Wisse pitched well, but the Delaware 1787 BC still lost the game, falling 4-1 to the Laredo Hawks at Carrier Field. The winner was Laredo reliever Jack Elvidge, now 1-0. The loser was Jonas Wisse. The second-place Hawks improved to 16-9.
Laredo used the clutch hitting of Todd Walker to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to give the Hawks the lead, 3-0. For the game, Walker had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Laredo manager Leonardo Sánchez. "Our pregame was pretty good."
