Merlo Sensational for Comets
Javier Merlo never let Niagara Falls get something going. The Kent right-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Comets to a 6-0 win. The Expos, at 4-19, have lost 10 straight games.

The Comets liked what they saw from Merlo. The 21-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Expos to no earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, and striking out 6.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Kent manager Noel Ballard. "Our pregame was pretty good."
