Hawks Slip Past Tennessee, 2-1

The Laredo Hawks picked up a win at Smokies Stadium, knocking off the Tennessee Smokies, 2-1. On the mound for Laredo was left-hander Cooper Carroll, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win was credited to John Stevens in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Morgan Novak took the loss. Javier Iturburua finished the game for Laredo and earned his 6th save.
Tim Thompson aided the Laredo cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Laredo manager Leonardo Sánchez.
The Smokies fall to 8-11 and continue their wobbly start to the 2040 season.
