Cardozo belts 2 home runs, Hawks Move to 11-7
|
Laredo and Mancelona duked it out at Hawks Field and the Hawks came out victorious.
The exploits of shortstop Óscar Cardozo, who is tied for 3rd in the SA in home runs with 3, helped the Laredo Hawks defeat the Mancelona Torch, 4-1. Cardozo went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Sylvain Richard was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. Javier Iturburua closed the door for Laredo, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Laredo second baseman Walker Ragland made his contribution to the Hawks cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the second inning. For the day, Ragland went 2-4 with a triple.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Laredo manager Leonardo Sánchez. "It's usually not just one thing."
Laredo, now 11-7, has played well in the early going.
