Comets Top Storm in Extras
|
The Kent Comets beat the Syracuse Storm, 5-3, at Storm Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Dave Flynn, who captured player of the game honors. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Kent reliever Jorge Pagán picked up the win, upping his record to 1-4. George Battle shouldered the loss. The Comets are off to a tough start, getting just their 7th win in 18 games.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 11th inning. With two out, Roberto Méndez hit a 2-1 fastball from George Battle for a 2-run single. It put Kent in front, 5-3.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Flynn.
