Reapers Get Close Win Over Smokies
|
Smokies Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Tennessee Smokies and Grim Reapers.
The Reapers had to overcome a fine effort from Tennessee pitcher Joe Yoder to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Smokies Stadium. Yoder went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Grim reliever Carlos Taváres picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Ron Holland absorbed the loss.
Grim relied on the bat of Tippi Degré to get the win. The center fielder produced a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reapers ahead, 3-2. For the game, Degré had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Enjoyed this one," Degré told the Grim Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Smokies fall to 7-10 and continue their wobbly start to the 2040 season.
