Victory Over Expos Takes Laredo to 8-4
|
Laredo Hawks starter Jesús Ríos was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Niagara Falls Expos, 8-0. Ríos, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Laredo is off to a hot start at 8-4.
The Expos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Hawks going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old right fielder Juan Oleastro came to the plate. Oleastro hit a 3-run home run on a 2-0 fastball from Niagara Falls hurler Jesús Fregaso. It was Oleastro's 2nd home run of the year.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Oleastro. "And not try to do too much."
