Hawks Squelch Comets Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Laredo Hawks beat the Kent Comets, 4-0, at Fuller Park. Laredo center fielder Quitério Ruah earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 4-5 with 3 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Mark Taylor got the save, the 1st for him this season. The win gives Laredo a record of 3-3.
Laredo took a 4-0 lead on Ruah's 3rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Henry Terry in the top of the seventh, propelled Laredo to the win.
Despite the victory, Ruah was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
