Rainbow Mermaids Walk Off with 5-4 Win
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Phil McCroskey, the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Hollywood Shredders, 5-4. McCroskey went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Rainbow Mermaids. Northern Virginia reliever Kent Randall was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Cullen Taylor took the loss. The Rainbow Mermaids go to 52-56, putting them 8th in the Premier League.
Mario Castillo was the walk-off hero for Northern Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Castillo told the Northern Virginia Times.
