Walleye Bridle 1787 BC, 4-3
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Carrier Field, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2040 USSL Single A season. On the mound was Mario Silva for the visiting Walla Walla Walleye and Jonas Wisse for the hometown Delaware 1787 BC. In a spirited contest, the Walleye pulled out the win, defeating the 1787 BC by the score of 4-3. Earning player of the game honors was Jonas Wisse. The save went to Johnny Jones, his 1st this season.
Walla Walla used the timely hitting of Roy Bagnall to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Walleye on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We take it day by day here," said Bagnall, "and today was a good one for us."
