Evergreens Prevail, 3-2, Over Buffalo

Zhao-ji Qiu could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Buffalo White Walkers lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Portland Evergreens at Beyond the Wall. Cristián Moreno got the win, improving to 3-11. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Ron Rouse, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.
Portland used a timely hit from Travis Murphy to get the win. The third baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Evergreens on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Murphy.
With the win, Portland goes to 51-54, while the White Walkers fall to 64-41.
