Yellows Win at Louisiana, 2-1
|
The Yucca Valley Yellows picked up a win at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Louisiana Dragoons, 2-1. Starting pitcher Glenn Douglas played a key role in the triumph. Douglas, now 4-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. This win makes it 6 in a row for Yucca Valley.
It could have been a different outcome for Yucca Valley, had it not been for Denny Wolfe, the slick-fielding shortstop . Wolfe contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Yucca Valley up, 2-1.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Douglas told a Yucca Valley Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
