Shredders Deal Flamingos Painful Loss
|
The Hollywood Shredders topped the Las Vegas Flamingos, 5-4, with designated hitter Kanko Umaba playing a big role. Umaba slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Shredders in the win. Hollywood reliever Cullen Taylor picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-3. Morris Prinkey was collared with the loss. The Shredders, now 51-51, have won 5 in a row.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With no one out, Umaba hit a fastball from Morris Prinkey for a solo home run. The Shredders, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Las Vegas manager JJ Hoban.
