Chesapeake pitcher Clinton McIntosh did his part in helping his team beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 3-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The save went to Wesley van Klaveren, his 1st this season. The 6th-place Continentals are now 27-23, the Screaming Eagles 30-20.

Chesapeake took a 3-2 lead on Jeff Washington's 51st hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Washington hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Mercer Island pitcher Ryan Fry visibly frustrated.

"Enjoyed this one," McIntosh told the Chesapeake Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
