Continentals Need Extras to Top Fighting Imps
|
The Chesapeake Continentals picked up a win at Chesapeake Grounds, knocking off the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 5-3. Starting pitcher William Burkett played a key role in the triumph. Chesapeake reliever Wesley van Klaveren picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jimmy Whitney suffered the loss. The 9th-place Fighting Imps have lost 4 consecutive games.
Woong Byeon took Jimmy Whitney deep in the bottom of the tenth. His 2-run home run put the Continentals on top, 5-3. In all, Byeon had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Byeon. "And not try to do too much."
