Victory Pushes Sixshooters Record to 27-17
|
Illarion Podmarkov helped his team muscle past the Crescent City Krewe, 6-4. In the game, the Westwood first baseman was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. Westwood reliever Júlio Rosales picked up the win to move to 1-0. John Combs suffered the loss. José Díaz was called on to finish, recording his 14th save.
Podmarkov had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 slider from Lee Tucker, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Sixshooters a 6-4 lead. It was the 47th hit of the year for Podmarkov.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Westwood manager Chua-kah Liu.
The Sixshooters, at 27-17, lead by one game in their division.
