Fighting Imps Roll to 8-3 Win Over Continentals
|
Ithaca beat Chesapeake on the strength of starter Glenn Underwood's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 8-3 win. Underwood, now 1-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 1, walking 5, and allowing 1 earned run. Jimmy Whitney was credited with the save for Ithaca, his 5th of the season.
The Fighting Imps grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With one out, Mike Branch hit a 2-run home run off Paul Workman, putting Ithaca in front, 2-1. For Branch, it was his 3rd home run of the season.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Ithaca skipper Jeff Walsh.
The Fighting Imps now have a record of 8-18 with the win over Chesapeake.
