Generals Beat Chukars, 5-3
|
Despite a great performance by Idaho Falls third baseman Ronald Lithgoe, the Washington Generals defeated the Chukars by the score of 5-3 at Idaho Falls Park. Lithgoe was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Pie-qi Gao, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. At 9-14, the Generals are currently 9th in the Menard's A.
Washington used the timely hitting of Jeroen Penning to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Generals ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Penning.
