Lake Minnetonka left-hander Mototsune Rin helped his team edge Ft. Polk South by the score of 3-2. Rin kept the opposing lineup in check. The win leaves Lake Minnetonka with a record of 9-11.
Had José Avilés not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Avilés hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Love Boats.
Afterward, Love Boats manager Burton Storey was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
