Screaming Eagles Shut Out Love Boats
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles picked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, knocking off the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 4-0. On the mound for Mercer Island was left-hander Noah Walker, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 7 innings, Walker surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Lonnie Zavala earned his 2nd save in 2 tries.
The Screaming Eagles got a big boost from center fielder Sadiya Seth who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the seventh inning off Love Boats hurler Mototsune Rin. It was his 6th RBI of the season and put Mercer Island on top, 1-0.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Walker told the Mercer Island Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The defending champion Screaming Eagles have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 6-6 with the win.
