Shooters Fall Short at Virginia
|
The Virginia Palladium Sox beat the Springfield Shooters, 5-4 at Palladium Labs, in part due to third baseman Jack Cobb, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Virginia has a record of 5-2.
Virginia took a 5-4 lead on Manuel Ortíz's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run came off Springfield pitcher Corey Holt in the bottom of the 14th.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Ortíz.
