In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The Yucca Valley Yellows knocked off the Athletic Club KC U-24, 9-5, at ACKC Youth Field. John Gaudet, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Yucca Valley won. The center fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win was Denny Matthews's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Dave Williams took the loss for Athletic Club KC. Danny Kas was credited with the save for Yucca Valley, his 2nd of the season.

The result might have been different for Yucca Valley, had it not been for Steffen Schulte. The right fielder produced a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Yellows ahead, 7-5. For the game, Schulte had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Schulte told the Yucca Valley Daily News.

With the win, Yucca Valley improves its record to 6-5.
