Loons Drop Farmers with Late Score
|
The Minnesota Loons faced a tough opponent in Lancaster pitcher Gijsbert van Veen, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Farmers Field by a final score of 5-4. van Veen went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The Loons now have a record of 52-49.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of José Arras to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Loons ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Arras said after the game.
