Evergreens Score Late to Upend Voodoo, 4-2
|
The Portland Evergreens defeated the New Orleans Voodoo, 4-2, at Evergreen Park. Kameron Guangorena was named player of the game for Portland. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 1 he knocked in. Seong-hyeon Yi earned the save for Portland, his 5th of the year. Portland goes to 44-46, New Orleans to 50-40.
Portland took control in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vicente Gomillion hit a run-scoring double to make it 3-2, Evergreens.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Guangorena told the Portland Herald. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
