Blue Sox Come Back Late to Clip Blimps
|
Irving rode a decent outing from starter Jeff Davis to victory over the Akron Blimps at Blue Sox Ballpark. The final score was 4-3. Irving reliever Biff Pocoroba picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-1. Mariano Bueno was collared with the loss. With the win over Akron, the Blue Sox improved to 34-54.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Irving center fielder Nick McGhee, facing Mariano Bueno, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Blue Sox the 4-3 win.
"This place was jumping at the end," McGhee said.
