Sonics Get Past Durham for 5-4 Win
|
The Atlantic City Sonics knocked off the Durham Rapiers, 5-4, at Sonics Ballpark. Denis Perrin, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Atlantic City won. The third baseman went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. Atlantic City reliever Einar Engberg picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. César Morales shouldered the loss. Fernando Mora converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Perrin had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from César Morales, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Sonics a 5-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Perrin.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Durham manager Emílio Sáenz.
With the win over Durham, the Sonics improved to 45-34.
