The Virginia Beach Whales trumped the Yakima Hops, 4-2, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Virginia Beach designated hitter Manny Dedo was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Kenny Hunt was credited with the save for Virginia Beach, his 15th of the season. With the win, Virginia Beach goes to 37-36, while the Hops fall to 35-38.

Dedo had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Félix Aiza, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Whales a 3-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Dedo.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Dedo told the Virginia Beach Daily News.
