Whales Fall to .500 After Loss to Blue Sox
|
The Irving Blue Sox had to overcome a big game from Virginia Beach left fielder Alfonso Cabedo to leave Virginia Beach Grounds with a 8-6 victory. Cabedo was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Donnie Rawling, credited with the win, is now 3-7. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 5.1 innings. Irving is in 9th place in the Silver AA with a record of 28-40.
Irving used the timely hitting of Kent Maxwell to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Blue Sox ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was an important one.
Maxwell called the triumph "a good team win."
