Farmers Come Back Late to Clip Sonics
|
The Lancaster Farmers topped the Atlantic City Sonics, 5-3, in USSL Double A action at Farmers Field. The player of the game was Lancaster pitcher Gijsbert van Veen. Juan Santos, credited with the win, is now 4-5. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Lancaster, now 35-32, holds 4th place in the Silver AA.
Todd Strachota, who is tied for 2nd in the SAA in home runs with 12, chipped in for Lancaster with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Strachota said in his postgame press conference.
